Title
[MBLB4194], Letter from Charles Batchelor to Francis Robbins Upton, April 3rd, 1882
Editor's Notes
Rcd the other part of your 5 Feby letter intended for me from EHJ. Will answer separately yours of 12 March about the different companies. Also got Dyer's of 13 March about shipments now in transit, and yours of 13 March about changes in sockets. Very anxious to have full drawings of new socketing machine as until then I can have no definite idea of when I can get lamps out. Having porcelien plating troughs made & will send you. Arranged your plating room a little different from your sketch. I confirm cable to TAE today : "Tell Upton send cocks." You speak of asphalt floor in your pump room but that costs too much here; I use yellow pine boards 1" wide, 2.5" thick. I note what you say about shipment of different voltage lamps to different European citites. Having trouble getting factory and machine shops started here; we can't get copper of good conductivity and copper mfgrs don't care a damn about going into the business; poor machinists. Have a great glass blowing house. I see you've taken the names off the letterhead; is this because the Co has been formed?
