Title
[MBLB4478], Letter from Charles Batchelor to Thomas Alva Edison, March 13th, 1883
Editor's Notes
In reply to my cable "[--] Johnson's advice on filing distribution" I have received your reply "follow dyer's directions concerning distribution" and answered today "Fifty-nine filed in France can stop other countries if do Englishman will be ahead of us." As soon as EHJ told me that Hopkinson had anticipated you, " I immediately decided to file the patent, and it was well I did, as Hopkinson I know now was in Paris all last week, and I suppose that would be his business here." Now he can't file before us in the other countries as ours have been sent and some are allowed by now; if I take steps to stope them he'll be ahead of us.
