Title
[MBN002046], Technical Note, Charles Batchelor, November 9th, 1877
Editor's Notes
found plumbago-saturated silk fluffs shakes out and substituted silk cloth covered both sides with paste of plumbago and dextrin; cut in discs and a number put in holder; resistance of circuit altered by pressing them together and opening them out again; however, deteriorated by going flat and loosing spring; TAE found plumbago does not alter resistance by pressure as thought but due to better contact under pressure thus decided to use hard fluffs of plumbago combined with other materials; best combination is 1 gram lampblack, 250 mg rubber dissolved in bisulphide carbon; rubber and mica diaphragms; also describes other designs;
