Title
[ME006], Letter from Thomas Alva Edison to John H Vail, May 20th, 1887
Editor's Notes
Made lots of new lamps about 800 each; volts vary btwn 98 and 110; hence we send you all 99 & 100 volt lamps; I think you will get 250@275 out of the whole. You can set them at 99 1/2 or 100 volts; 100 would be best; I don’t understand how you get 100 volt lamps for Pearl street; thought they used 105 volts; come right over here go in cellar 7 take barrell at Random; if you don’t get served at Pearl Street; loss in bldgs & mains; you can make an estimate to see if would be cheaper to add 33 % more copper to mains than 2 or 3 extra feeders; adding 33 pct to copper does not increase gross cost of mains laid Further discussion of laying feeder and pct cost of copper added #Dont you think that after 500 hrs. or 22 days we will know enough about new lamps
