Title

[ME010], Letter from Edison Electric Light Co, John H Vail to Thomas Alva Edison, August 24th, 1887

Editor's Notes

difficulties in blackening the lamp globes; globes of lamps may be made somewhat larger than they are now so less blackening# If globe is certain size and carbon inserted they are exposed to the carbon; for a certain amont of time the smut on the globe will reach thickness and cuts down on the candle power ot lamp; If globe is large there is more surface area for smut and wil not reduce the candle power so fast TAE marg "EHJ would kill us is we did this-he is all time trying get them smaller Ive made them small as I dare already- what you say is Correct"
