- I find my place here [still in NY] extremely pleasant and I am learning a great deal concerning the Electric Light. . . . Yesterday the Co. sent two messengers to me to ask me questions as to an English patent. That shows that they are having no other searcher and that I have a fine chance of coming into a good position if the light succeeds. My pay is not yet fixed, but I hop it will be so in a day or two. I cannot really believe that I am earning money.
