- Editor's Notes
- I should have gone home Saturday but just at the present I am very busy here with experimenting. Mr. Edison is giving all his attention to the electric light and finding out a great deal new about it. I feel anxious to be ont he spot so that I can see why the vaious contrivances are changed. Besisdes this we intend to make a series of tests regarding the transmission of power and these will be entirely under my charge, as it is nearly all calculations that is needed. I think I have found a law, but I have yet to test it before I can with certainty say whether it holds in all cases. Mr. Sutro of the Sutro Tunnel has written to Mr. Edison regarding power to the mines in Virginia City. He says there is a rive power of 3000 to 4000 horse power only four or five miles away and that he thinks this could be utilized. They now burn wood at teh mines and it costs $10 or $12 a cord. Mr. Edison thinks that the power from Lake Tahoe could be utilized, it is only 20 or 25 miles away and power can be taken that far by means of electricity. I feel very confident that it can be done. This will be a chance for me in case the E-- L-- plays out. I expect to get married in about five weeks, and I am going to come home for arrangements in a week or two. You may expect some hints for a wedding present in the shape of the wedding garments.
