- made enclosed tube for baking of carbon spirals, found carbon always broke just at junction of carbon and platina, so made straight piece of carbon; also drawing by TAE labeled circle paper carbonized [but this is probably from later date see fr. 655]; spiral wound round paper core, clay put on spiral to insulate, now put larger percentage of lampblack; better way to carbonize the carbon to take wire (straight) fasten platina and then wind in form of spiral, difficult to keep spiral in position while carbonizing
