Meter plates expts. Then pl. 227 is "Resume of Meter Experiment. Boiling the solution and covering with oil does not help mattters in the lease, as in all cases tried there seems to be a reaction between the oil and the solution, the result of which is a deposit upon the plate. This has been tried with the following oils [list]. The placing in the bottle of other metals with a view to throwing the oxidation on to them, resulted in failure, for the metal was either unacted upon or else taken up by the solution and reduced on the plate.
