"Make a set of long magnets of 1/2 inch Norway iron of following lenghts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 8 12 20 40 feet in length wind evenly after covering with paper No 20 well insulated wire from end to end Then magnetize with same amperes in each experiment and move an astatic needle [unclear text] with or without director magnet at different distances & make curves, opening & closing the long mag ckt-- I want to get the projecting power for the lines of force of very long magnets-- EMF of magnetism analogous to Electricity at same time get the charging and discharging times of these magnets (drawing follows)
