- Editor's Notes
- "Payne No. 2 so rapidly Left until thoroughly cooled. Found 7 broken; broke 3 in detaching the small pieces of tin that adhered to carbons, having 20 carbons in good condition. Carbons when put in forms never quite crooked, but during process seem to have gotten straighter. Came out dark & smooth not very shiny. The forms were cut out at each end & about an inch on each side to allowe the metal free access. Delivered 20 carbons to Edison marked Payne No. 2."
