- drawing "With the above appartus I found the same proportion existing in 1--100 or so drawn over, even with the strongest electro-magnet off suitable size & close proximity of stream to poles of magnet little or nothing was drawn over-- A few other mechanical changes were necessary before continuing my experiments and that was to use a different size mesh for sieve (finer) as too much material would come down at a time. Also to narrow up the lower hopper which will be noticed always hangs perpendicular even whenthe upper hopper is pressed forward the lower one swings free. A sharp divide below had also to be used. With this improvement it was [certain?] to determine the slightest deviation from a straight line."
