Title

[PT032ABE], Patent Application, Thomas Alva Edison, September 12th, 1888

Editor's Notes

Draft (by TAE?) patent application for extracting gold from sulphureted ores. Results in Case 801; Pat. 474,591. Draft claims; no drawings. New process "is based upon the fact that the coating upon the gold [which prevents amalgamation with Hg] may be removed by the application of weak nitric acit, and that at the same time the surface of the gold may be amalgamated if there is added to the weak acid solution a small quantity of a mercurial salt, especially nitrate of mercury." [note in Edison's hand and after claims becomes shorthand of a note to Dyer]
