[QP001751], Letter from American Graphophone Co, Nathaniel E Russell to Jesse H Lippincott, December 28th, 1889

Editor's Notes

Dear Sir: We acknowledge receipt of bill of The Scoville Co.transmittedb by you on the 27thinstant.##Recalling your letter of the 17th inst. in reference to confusion arising from duplication of numbers on orders No. 282 and 307. We have this morning from the Western Penn. Phono. Co. notifications that machine billed to them on your order No. 282 on the 4th of Dec. instant and reported as being No. 3478, which number is indentical with one you sent to the Colorado & Utah Phono. Co., is actually numbered upon the name plate No. 3749. we have corrected our records accordingly.##In reference to the letter of the Western Penna. Phono. Co.,relating to trouble experienced with new Type "C" Graphophones, arising from the failure of reproducer style to follow exactly in the path of the recorder style, from which you furnish us an extract in yours of the 27th instant, we would say:--that this mtter has our careful attention, and we have great hope that the trouble complained of will be eliminated by changing the path of the recorder style to a thread of finer pitch, by means of new gearing now being tried. The space between the threads is reduced by this means tosuch narrow compass that we think reproducer style will not be so prone to follow it. There are some other matters of detail relating to this point about which we will write you in the future. Yours truly, N. E. Russell, Manager.
