Reports in The Times have reported an alleged rupture between TAE, Tomlinson, and Gilliland. The Electrical review said that they believe that the New Yok papers have sensationalized the sale of the phonograph and are engaging in a malicious attack on the reputations of Tomlinson and Gilliland. The two have not traced their traducers and have resolved to institute proceeding against certain papers.
Thomas Edison accuses late legal adviser John C. Tomlinson and electrician/inventor Ezra T. Gilliland of cheating him out of $250,000 in the sale of the phonograph
