- Editor's Notes
- The Baltimore Automatic Transit Co. has experimented on a two-mile track with a system of propulsion much like an electric railway, using the Edison dynamo and the Sprague motor. There is an overhead rail with double-flanged wheel on the car. The idea is to transport mail, express and light freights at lightning speed, so that, for instance, the New York morning papers can be read in Chicago at breakfast the same day they are issued. Edison is said to have declared the project the greatest since the telegraph was started.
