- Editor's Notes
- [This is an exchange---possibly fragmentary---between Reiff and EHJ on two sides of a paper that appear related to Painter to Reiff 880819 X154A7D]: "I should say the scheme should be to try & consolidate all Phonograph & Graphophone interests now to avoid dificulty in raising money for the [various?] interests to avoid scaring people as to litigation & by getting so far ahead of other people inventors & others as to be able to maintain a real monopoly without any o the offensive featurs so often necessitated by over capitalization & excessive competition J C Reiff"##" "Undoubtedly but it is the business of the fellows who have started in to do tha to follow it up & cojmplete it by securing the foundation. Otherwise I am of Painters opinion that they will find the Graphophone Wallsand the Edison Roof a very poor House to dwell in E.H. Johnson" ## "I think the Lippincott people should be allowed to make the first payment before any action is taken so as to get them fully committed to the prospect & then money in.##They have ample notice of the litigation.
