"Please read the enclosed [not found] and then return it to me, in the envelope which I send you. ## What do you think of this bottomless rat hole? ## Between Barney and the bogus copper mind the dead horses make me tired." Johnson marginalia: "You have $5000 on my account. I am really sorry for him & am willing to give him a lift if I am in a position to do it. As to which of course you alone are the judge [illeg] you keep my relatons to you entirely to ourself."
