- Editor's Notes
- Dear Painter It is important to us (W&G) that I know whether my personal relations are to continue on the old timed confidential basis, in repsect of information from Washington. Of course if I have wronged you I cannot expect it I have wrongedyou if your charge is true that I failed to fulfil my trust.##The trust was in the name of W&G so it is a serious charge you bring & I must have it disposed of as between you & me.-- Any responsibility is entirely mine. I propose therefore the matter shall be submitted to your intimate friend the Hon Wm E. Chandler, os that I may be relieved from the imputation. I should not like to think the possession of your money had influenced your nature certainly your conduct toward me & this firm has seriously changed during past two years. Yours J C Reiff
