This folder contains correspondence and other documents pertaining to the testing, production, procurement, and sale of chemical supplies. Most of the documents were prepared for Edison by John V. Miller, manager of the Edison Chemical Works. Included are summaries of tests and other investigations undertaken during the period 1910-1914 concerning reduced capacity, development of sediment, and the quality of the nickel hydrate, potash, and iron in the batteries. Also included is a report about plant operations at the Niagara Alkali Co. and Castner Electrolytic Alkali Co.
Approximately 50 percent of the documents have been selected. The unselected material consists primarily of routine items regarding purchases, shipments, and costs.
