This folder contains correspondence and other documents relating to Edison's deafness and to devices for the hearing impaired. The correspondents for 1917 include Gilbert Colgate of Colgate & Co. and New York physician Charles Lee.
Approximately 5 percent of the documents, including all letters bearing marginalia by Edison, have been selected. Most of the inquiries received a form-letter response stating that Edison had never found any type of hearing aid to be satisfactory and that he had discontinued his experiments but might return to them in the future.
