This folder contains requests for Edison's autograph or photograph and related correspondence. Included are letters from collectors, publishers, news bureaus, photography studios, and educators as well as from children and from Edison friends, employees, and business associates. Some of the letters request permission to use the photographs in publications. The correspondents for 1919 include Edison employees Gilbert H. Baldwin, George E. Hart, Edward E. Pennewill, and Evelyn F. Scott; former employee Paul Sutcliffe; Hetty G. Grouse of Birmingham, England; cabinet maker John Herzog; and health products manufacturer and future Progressive Party leader William T. Rawleigh.
Approximately 5 percent of the documents have been selected. The unselected material consists primarily of routine requests and responses by Edison's personal assistant, William H. Meadowcroft. A few items bear a brief notation by Edison indicating that the request be granted or refused.
