These documents consist primarily of letters from Mina Miller Edison addressed jointly to her youngest son, Theodore, and family friend Lucy Durfee Bogue. Also included is an undated letter from Theodore to his grandmother, Mary Valinda Miller, probably written around the same time period. The first three letters by Mina were written in August 1908, while Lucy and ten-year-old Theodore were vacationing in Monhegan Island, Maine, and the other members of the Edison family was preparing to embark on a trip to the Pacific Northwest. The last letter, dated August 25, was written from the Hotel Ryan in St. Paul, Minnesota, where the Edisons had arrived after a boat ride across the Great Lakes and a train trip from Duluth. The letter discusses an automobile trip through Minneapolis and St. Paul and plans to visit Yellowstone Park on the way to the Pacific coast.
