- Editor's Notes
- [Letterhead of The Harrisburg Electric Light Co.] Some days ago I was in Sunbury looking over our plant there. I find it in a dilapidated state and it cannot run many months longer without extensive repairs. An effort has been made to raise money to rebuild it, which failed. All of the present stockholders refuse to put any more money in. Now there is a disposition on the part of some Sunbury capital to take hold of the business and double the capacity, putting everything in good shape provided they can get the stock held by yourself [TAE] and the Williamsport parties for $50 per share. If not, they won't touch it. I think $50 per share is better than a total loss; that a good plant in Sunbury is far better for the Edison System at large than a poor one or total wreck; and that it is better to make sale of a "little old broken down plant up in Pa." when its stock can be sold for more than the quotation of its parent company. I hold 11[?] shares and think I can persuade the Williamsport people to sell at the above quotes. In fact, we are all disgusted and want to get out and will do so if you will go in with us. Will you do it? Please answer at once.
