Your favor of 7th has followed me here where I have again permanently located myself.##I have sent the letter to eAton & asked him to do all he can in the matter of bringing influence to bear on the Committee & Congress & I will do the same.##I ahve also recommended that Professor Mendenhall be retained & have asked Eaton to write you on the subject.##I have sent Prof Mendenhall some soft carbon Buttons. These are all I have at present. I had a letter this morning from the Naughton Farm Experiment Department They "are desirous of obtaining an instrument by which they can obtain and record the hourly variations in the temperature of plants and soils."##I referred them to you on the subject.
