Title
[LB012327], Letter from Thomas Alva Edison to Joseph Thomas Murray, May 16th, 1882
Editor's Notes
Do you remember in 1872 or 1873 that I showed you a district Telegraph box which made its own currents It had a permanent Steel magnet and Electro magnet and being provided with a long handle. When the handle was pulled down a spring was wound up and this acted to vibrate a piece of Iron in front of a magnet connected to Steel horse shoe magnets. I had it set up at the Gold and Stock and brought you and Mr Sawyer over to see it. It was in a light Mahogany box about six inches long four inches wide and three inches deep. A very long handle protruded from the box Handle. I have the Original instrument Except the box. Please let me know as soon as possible if you Recollect it and oblige.
