Title

[LB032127], Letter from John F Randolph to Quincy (John W.) & Co, August 22nd, 1889

Editor's Notes

"At the time the Edison Mfg Company started it was under the management of the Edison Phonograph Works and since then it has been taken in charge of Mr. Edison and when I mailed you a check for $958.75 I was told that Edison Phonograph Works had your bill for $637.89 on their books and said they would pay same and when your draft came in I went down and saw them about it and was very much surprised to have them tell me that they had made a mistake and did not have your bill on their book and I was unable to get any trace of it and besides if I had the bill I would have been unable to pay same as Mr. Insull who has power to sign check was away unexpectedly and I could not have reached him and of course I had to return the draft. ### Please send me by bearer a duplicate of your bill dated May 13, 1889 for $637.88 and I will see that it is paid immediately" Yours truly, John F. Randolph Bookkeeper
